   • Method to Permanently Get Rid of Roaches - After observing the effects of boric acid roach powder on a roach infestation, the page author put boric acid roach powder on the sill plates of walls under construction and under baseboards on all walls.

      Any roach that get in goes nuts and dies in a day or two.

      Powder is added to the under-baseboard spaces every decade or so.

      Only one glitch: A repairman thought rolled-up Hershey Kiss wrappers were roach egg cases.

3. ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONIC, AND SOUND RECORDING AND REPRODUCTION

   • Perpetuum Ebner PE-2038 Modification to add a repeat position on the control lever. When activated, the REPET Position makes the changer play the playing record again after it finishes playing.

     The positions on the lever (left to right) are:

     • REPET - Starts the motor if off. The record being played will repeat once after it finishes. †
     • STEP - Starts the motor. The changer will shut off without dropping a record after the record finishes. †
     • • - The normal centered position of the lever.
     • STOP - Immediately returns the arm to rest and shuts off without dropping the next record. ‡
     • START - Starts the motor, drops a record, and plays the stack, or starts a record on the turntable. ‡
     • † - The lever returns to the normal centered position after the next change cycle.
     • ‡ - The lever returns to the normal centered position when the change cycle finishes.

     This was possible because the PE Command lever was made for the PE-2018, which used the change-cycle cam for cuing. The unused CUE position was blocked off by a plastic insert on PE-2038. The page author removed the insert and added a piano-wire spring that moves the switch lever to the play position when the command lever is in the REPET position. This repeats the record.

   • A way to remove the almost dangerous heat from a fiber-optic display - Replace the halogen reflector bulb with an equivalent replacement LED bulb having an equal or greater lumen rating. It runs much cooler, and the display may even be brighter.

      The page author replaced a 20-watt halogen bulb with a 5-watt LED with a lumen output of a 50 watt bulb.

      The results were very good. The case does not get hot, and the display is brighter.

      Put a 1.5 amp fuse in series with the transformer output to protect it if the LED shorts when it burns out.

       The page author learned this the hard way.

      Instead of the fuse, connect a 60 watt 120 v bulb in series with the lamp socket. It should glow only if the LED burns out.

      The launch igniter is almost a dead short across the battery.
      Firing the rocket cut the equipment power (from the same battery), so it had to restart.
