GOVERNMENT WRONGDOING

WHAT GOVERNMENT DOES WRONG THAT HARMS PEOPLE

  1. Deficit Spending is the cruelest tax of all.

When government spends into debt instead of taxing people directly, it increases the money supply.

The increased money supply from borrowing makes the value of the money go down (inflation).

The value of the money going down is seen as prices going up.

The people see prices going up for no reason. The tax in it is hidden in prices rises.

When the prices go up, people's pensions usually do not go up, though they should.

Taxing people directly to repay the debt does not lower the prices again.

  2. The IRS locks (levies) bank accounts for small tax debts.

This happens even if the debt is caused by mistakes in filing taxes.

This keeps that person from paying other bills he owes.

They often do this to an account containing a large amount for a small tax debt.

Other businesses are hurt because they cannot receive payments from some customers.

When someone dies, the IRS pounces, grabbing what it is due before anyone else gets paid moneys that are owed them.

  3. Property tax is a devastating tax that hurts the poor.

Property taxes take property from the poor who can't pay and give it to the rich for the amount of tax due.

Property tax is based on former income, not present income.

Property tax is regressive, because it does not go down when the income of the owner goes down.

Democrats love property tax because the revenue (including foreclosures) does not go down in a recession.

  4. Governments use unfair election voting methods.

The Plurality Voting System (vote for only one) usually elects the candidate most different from the others.

The Plurality Voting System has severe vote stealing when more than two candidates run.

Ranking Voting Systems (pick order best to worst) can't tell if middle choices are liked or disliked.

Ranking Voting Systems also tend to elect the candidate most different from the others.

Note: The only truly fair system is INDEPENDENT VOTING" (vote on each choice separately).

  5. Governments allow hate campaigns in elections.

These hate campaigns often contain falsehoods or guilt by association.

Many of the haters are mad because they did not get what the candidates they wanted promised.

Too many people are tricked by these campaigns and believe the claims are true.

Some claims in these campaigns have caused people to try to kill or harm others.

  6. Monopolies are allowed, especially in healthcare

This lets medical firms charge as much as they want for service.

Any time a monopoly exists, people are overcharged.

Competition is necessary for prices to be fair and stable. Monopolies prevent competition.

  7. Medical companies are allowed to charge uninsured patients much larger amounts than insurance companies pay.

This is as wrong as anything can be. Many people cannot get coverage for some things because of their medical situation.

Medical companies are allowed to charge some patients much more to pay for patients who cannot pay.

The charge should be what it actually costs to provide the service, not some inflated value.

  8. Government allows medical companies to use collection agencies to collect these outrageous charges.
  9. Companies are allowed to charge huge royalties for the use of products they have patents or copyrights on.

This causes patients to pay huge amounts just because a doctor uses some product with a royalty.

Other industries have to avoid some solutions because of the high royalties charged to use them.

  10. Patents and copyrights cause product discontinuations.

When the patent expires, business tends to discontinue that product and create a new one they can patent.

This deprives the people who like the old product better.

The length of patent protection causes this. Shorter lengths would allow the product to continue to be made.

Examples of this are the new spork, the change from Dolby Surround to Dolby Digital, and the drive to discontinue disc media for music and movies.

Copyright durations are insane - 50 years after the author's death, or 95 years if hired.

A reasonable patent and copyright length is 10 years of protection, plus a permanent protection of creator recognition.

Patents and copyrights should not be sold.

Once the product is discontinued, it should not be illegal to make a copy of it.
