PREVENTING YELLOW TRAP

• Both signals on the street show circular green.

  Left turns have flashing yellow arrows.
   

• The signal for one direction turns to circular yellow.

  The signal for the other direction remains circular green.

  The flashing yellow arrows continue to flash in both directions.
   

• The left turning driver still sees the flashing yellow arrow.

  He knows he can still turn through gaps in traffic.

  No accident occurs.
   

Because the timing of the flashing yellow arrow is not tied to the circular green, it can prevent yellow trap.
