HYPERINFLATION

Here is what happens when countries try to create more wealth by printing more money. Note that the actual amount of wealth is limited by the amount of work done in the country. Doubling the amount of currency usually halves the value of each piece of currency.

x2 t yr - The number of years to double prices

x2 t da - The number of days to double prices

x2 t hr - The number of hours to double prices

da calc - Calculation of daily incrate (The rate plus 100%)

log10 da - The common logarithm of the daily incrate

log10 mo - The common logarithm of the monthly incrate

mo calc - Calculation of monthly incrate

log10 yr - The common logarithm of the yearly rate

yr rate - The yearly inflation rate in %

Calculations:

Getting the incrate value from the rate in Excel % form:

incrate = rate + 1

Getting the incrate value from the rate in external form:

incrate = rate / 100 + 1

Getting the incrate value for one period from the incrate value for a different period:

incratenew = incrateold ^ timefactor

Getting the doubling time from the incrate value:

dbltime = log10(2) / log10(incrate)

dbltime will be in the same units the period of the incrate is in.

Getting the common logarithm of the incrate value:

lograte = log10(incrate)

Getting the lograte value for one period from the lograte value for a different period:

logratenew = lograteold * timefactor

Getting the incrate value from the lograte:

incrate = 10 ^ lograte

Getting the Excel % rate value from the incrate:

rate = incrate - 1

Getting the external rate value from the incrate value:

rate = 100 * (incrate - 1)

Getting the timefactor value:
