CREED DISCRIMINATION?
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines creed as:
- A brief authoritative formula of religious belief
- A set of fundamental beliefs
- A guiding principle
So if someone discriminates against you because of your beliefs, he is breaking the law. Federal law prohibits
discrimination due to creed.
Such discrimination includes the following beliefs:
- Religious beliefs
- Political beliefs
- Political party
- Beliefs about abortion
- Beliefs about homosexuality
- Beliefs about contraception
- Beliefs about sexual freedom
- Beliefs about UFOs
- Economics beliefs
- Beliefs about war
- Beliefs about the size of government
- Beliefs about government-run health care
- Beliefs on how to discipline children
- Beliefs about government spending
- Beliefs about government regulation
- Beliefs about taxation
- Beliefs about government interference in the lives of individuals
Examples of observed discrimination:
- Educational institutions discriminating against conservatives in employment
- Unions "expecting" members to be Democrats
- Firing people who are against homosexual marriage
- Researching which party employees chose in the primary
- Landlords refusing housing to war veterans
- Firing a pharmacist who refused to dispense birth control for religious reasons
- Not promoting people who believe the stimulus was a waste of money
- Every Christian in the department is laid off
- Finding "reasons" to fire people who object to Obamacare
- Mistreating an employee because he wants the copyright law repealed
- A human resources director who hates conservatives and Christians with a passion. He says that they deny
people their "basic rights."
A case in court
The University of Iowa Law School has been sued by a woman with experience who applied for teaching jobs
was not hired. One job was filled by someone without experience, another was never filled, and she was passed
over for several other jobs. She claims that she was not hired because of her legal work against abortion.
