HOW SLAVERY IS MISREPRESENTED

To most people before 1800, slavery was an accepted way of life.

Slavery is actually theft of the value of the work the slaves do.
Because most owners took care of their slaves, slavery was part of the "safety net".
Most of Europe had slavery continuously from before the Roman Empire. It was the way of life.
The Greek utopia was run on slave labor.
Most colonists and American leaders who had money before 1800 had slaves.
It was not unusual for leaders to own slaves.
The Catholic Church started questioning the morality of slavery in the 1600s. This is the first the use of slavery was seriously questioned.
Quakers started questioning the morality of slavery in 1758.
France and French colonies abolished slavery in 1794. Napoleon restored it in 1802.
The Northern States in the US all abolished slavery by 1804.
Haiti abolished slavery in 1804.
Britain abolished slavery in 1833.
Pope Gregory XVI condemned slavery in 1839.
France and French colonies abolished slavery in 1848.
The United States abolished slavery in 1865. It was the third major country in the world to do so.
Brazil was the last country in the Americas to abolish slavery in 1888.
Slavery was not the only reason the Civil War began. The federal government passed laws that cost the southern states money.
The slavery in the United States was not even close to being the worst in the world.
This is believed because the free press reported on it much more than the regulated news in other countries reported about their slavery.
Robert E Lee did not own any slaves, though his wife inherited some.
Robert E Lee was offered leadership of both the Union and Confederate armies.
- He chose the Confederate army because all of his land in Virginia would have been confiscated if he fought for the North.
Robert E Lee lost his land anyway when the North won. They seized his land. It is now Arlington National Cemetery.
In 1865, Robert E Lee became president of Washington College, later Washington and Lee University.

The protesters today think that the US was one of the first slave countries (instead of one of the last) and that just a few of the founding fathers owned slaves.

Note that until after World War II most scientists believed in scientific racism (a belief of white supremacy), which used scientific evidence to show that the white race was superior to other races. This was refuted in the 1940s when it was shown that learning environments and previous experiences were the causes of the differences in the races in the testing.

If you are stopped by police, follow these rules to avoid being killed or harmed by police:

Don't do anything that Al Sharpton says to do. He WANTS to prove his point with police confrontations and killings.
Obey the law. Police should not bother you at all if you are obeying the law.
Obey what police tell you to do. They have the authority to order you.
Do not try to fight, trick, outwit, or run from the police.
Stay calm.
If you pull a gun on police, YOU WILL DIE. They have the right to protect their own lives.
If police think you are reaching for a weapon, they will shoot you.
Do not carry a weapon.
Do not have a weapon in the passenger compartment of your car or in the glove box.
If you must have a weapon, keep it locked away in a strongbox.
Do not make any sudden or unexpected moves.
Never reach into a vehicle or building for anything. Police will think it is a weapon.
Never put your hands in or near your pockets.
Never do anything that might make officers think you have or are reaching for a weapon.
NEVER try to take a weapon or anything else from an officer.
If you do anything to cause police to think you have a weapon, they will not be held at fault if they shoot you.
Remember that traffic and drug offenses are tiny compared to losing your life and penalties for fighting police.
Remember that there are many police officers, and if you elude the initial arrest, ALL of them will be looking for you.
The place to assert your rights and contest the arrest is in court, not at the scene of the arrest.

After a Police Shooting

Most police killings are not race related, but are caused by the actions of the suspect.
Putting officers on "paid administrative leave" is not punishing the officers. It is keeping the officers off the street until the investigation is over.
Don't expect a quick investigation. It can take weeks to find the entire truth. Snap decisions are usually wrong.
If the victim did anything to cause police to think he had a weapon, the officers will not be held at fault for the shooting.
The officer(s) may or may not be found at fault by the police investigating body. Punishments may include fines and loss of job.

The officer(s) may or may not be prosecuted by the local justice system. The charges depends on the circumstances:
